On November 23, the international student association ( InSA)
organized a trip to the Flora Exposition in Taipei. The participants
of the trip included the Director of the International Language and
Cultural Center, InSA President and Vice-president together with the
professors and more than 30 international students of the school.
Within a day from 9:30 am to 7:30 pm, all the participants had a
great opportunity not only to enjoy the magnificent beauty of
thousands kinds of flowers at the expositions but also enrich their
knowledge about Chinese culture and other cultures as well.
InSA organized this meaningful activity for a variety of purposes.
First, as one of the missions of the association, it is to connect
the international students of the school together as a family. Every
trip organized by InSA is always a chance for the members of this
association get to know one another better and understand more about
the different cultures through very simple conversations or
behaviors. This activity suits with the internationalization goal of
our school in the coming International week which booms solidarity
and understanding among international students at YZU.
Second, this activity is also a good introduction to the international
students about Taiwan. The layout of the exposition on a vast area
is really impressive which the variety of displays, decorations,
buildings, fields of numerous flowers. The location of the
Exposition is also special because not only the tourists inside the
exposition site can enjoy the beauty but passengers in different
vehicles above the streets can have an overview look at the site
while driving along the street.
The first impression that anyone can have is that tourists cannot take an
overall walk within a day and enjoy everything not only because the
Expo site is immerse but also each and every place is so beautiful
and attractive enough to hold tourists’ steps. The trip became even
more meaningful when every international student discovered that
there was a global garden gathering the elitism of culture of
different countries in the world. They were eager to look for the
garden of his/her home country, to experience the feelings to be at
home at this foreign country.
Finally, the trip can be regarded as a bridge to connect humans and
nature. In a developed society when people are so much busy and
interested in the material life, a chance to live in nature, to
experience the natural beauty of the flowers is extremely
meaningful.
Everyone has experienced an exciting day with full of refreshment
and valuable experiences. The participants are all longing for other
activities by InSA in the future.
